Robert Andrew Childs “Brain” was born June 20th, 1941 to the late Mr. Britton and Mrs. Claudia Childs.
At an early age, he confessed Christ as his personal lord and savior under the Pastoral leadership of Rev. T.P. Walker at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Robert received his formal education in the Attalla Public School system where he graduated with honors from Norris High School class of 1960. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his county for four years ending his tour of duty on June 26, 1964.
Upon returning home, he went to work at Republic Steele. After working local for several years, he gained employment with Bellsouth Telecommunications where he worked for over 20 years. After retiring, he worked as a tax preparer.
Robert was a devoted and loving brother who will be remembered for having a lot of love and affection. His warm and friendly smile will be cherished by many. He was truly a joy to be around.
Robert departed this life on November 18, 2019.
He is preceded in death by both parents, Mrs. Claudia Childs and Britton Childs Jr.; two sisters, Millie Ann Childs and Geneva Childs Cole; two brothers, Jimmy and Alfred Childs.
Those left to cherish his many memories are his eight sisters, Claudia (Robert) Fergerson of Chester,PA., Jeanette (William) Bumpers of New Castle, DE., Dorothy Willingham and Gloria Knight both of Atlanta, GA., Jannie (Rev. Joseph)Nix, Gwendolyn Rudolph and Roberta Harville all of Gadsden, Al., Carolyn Childs of Attalla, AL., Four brothers, Britton (Emma) Childs III, Herbert (Janie Lee) Childs, Willie Earl Childs and Sanford Childs all of Gadsden, AL. One Aunt, Jannie Wilson of Chester, PA., He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and many dear friends.
