Phyllis Lynn Shack was born on November 20, 1966, the sixth child born to the late Mr. Alonzo Shack, Jr., and the late Reverend Rosie Lee Shack in Attalla, Alabama.
She accepted Christ at an early age at James Temple A.O.H. Church of God under the leadership of Reverend Rosie L. Shack. Later in her Christian journey, she joined Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Scottie Rice. She was a faithful member until her health declined. She served as a Greeter, was on the Pastor’s Aide Committee and the Marriage Ministry, attended Sunday School, and served wherever she was needed.
Phyllis was united in holy matrimony to the late Reginald Goggins. To this union one daughter, Chasity Sherrelle Goggins, was born. Years later after Reginald’s passing she remarried and two children Jalen Ja-Kobe Griffin and Janiah Phyllis Griffin were born.
Phyllis was educated in the public schools of Etowah County. She was a graduate of Etowah High School, Class of 1985. She went on to continue her education and graduated from Gadsden State Community College. Phyllis was a loyal and dedicated worker for United Parcel Service for over twenty-four years, where she served as the office manager. She also owned H & P Cleaning services. Phyllis was a loving mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She enjoyed shopping, skating, working out and walking her dog Lucy. Her greatest joy came from being with her family & friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving parents and late husband.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Chasity Sherrelle Goggins (Jason Snow); her son Jalen Ja-Kobe Griffin (Nyasia George); daughter, Janiah Phylise Griffin (Jordan Williams); siblings, Alonzo (Doris) Shack III, Alberta G. (Otis) Jennings, Renita Shack Stevens, Sheldon Shack, and Bruce (Patricia) Shack; special sister, Vicki Giles Ecxford; a host of very loving special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear cousins; special friends, Jennifer Turk, Sharlisia Suttle Smith, Nedra Thomas Payton, and Geraldine Henley; and the prayer warriors of Fellowship Baptist Church.
