Roy "Alphonso" Coats was born the fourth child of Mr. Roy Coats, Sr., and Mrs. Ernestine Coats, on November 5, 1971. He received Christ at an early age, under the leadership of Pastor Roy Coats Sr., at First Apostolic Faith Christian Church.
He received his formal education in the Gadsden Public School System, where he earned his high school diploma at Gadsden High School, class of 1989.
Upon completing high school, Alphonso furthered his studies at RETS Electronics, where he earned his Associates in Applied Science Degree in Electronics. After completing college, Alphonso gained employment at Delphi Packard, where he worked until the company closed. Upon being laid off, Alphonso immediately enrolled in Gadsden State Community College, where he earned a second Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering. After graduating, Alphonso successfully gained employment with the Anniston Army Depot, where he worked as an electrical engineer for sixteen years.
On December 2, 1995, Alphonso would marry the love of his life, Sandra Coats, and to this union, three children were born, Vincent J. Coats, Marquis A. Coats, and Royalty A. Coats.
Aside from being an excellent provider for his family, Alphonso loved preaching and teaching God's Holy Word. He accepted his calling into the ministry in August of 2015, and started his own ministry Life Assurance Apostolic Worship Center in December of 2016. On July 12, 2019, he was elevated as District Elder through - the - --Pentecostal Assembly's of the World Ninth Episcopal Diocese of Alabama.
In his spare time, be loved to play music. He could play the saxophone and a set of drums.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Vincent S. Coats.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 24 years, Lady Sandra K. Coats of Gadsden, AL; sons, Vincent J. Coats and Marquis A. Coats, both of Gadsden, AL; daughter, Royalty Coats of Gadsden, AL; parents, Pastor Roy Coats, Sr., and First Lady Ernestine Coats of Gadsden,AL; father-in-law, W.L. Rudolph; mother-in-law, Vergie Rudolph, both of Bellville, AL; brothers, Roy (Marlo) Alonso Coats of Gadsden, Alabama, Ernest T. Coats of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Clarissa Harrell of Atlanta, GA, Bernetta (Elliott) Patillo of Gadsden, AL, and Noriko (Donnis) Leeth of Huntsville, AL; Sister-in-law, Juanita (Tony) Brown of Pensacola, FL, Darlene Brown of New Orleans, LA, Gloria (Stanley) Davis of Pensacola, FL, Keisha Rudolph of Belleville, AL, Sharonda (Jeremiah) Wright of Columbia, TN, and Theresa Rudolph of Gadsden, AL.
He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
