Ms.Cora A. Garlington

Memorial service honoring the life and legacy of Ms. Cora A. Garlington, age 56, of Attalla, Al. will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the courtyard of Prestige Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Rev. Dr. Mario McDaniel, Officiating. A private interment will be held at Rainbow Memorial Gardens at a later date. Cora Ann Garlington was born April 19, 1963 to Eddie and Ogeeta Garlington in Attalla, AL being the sixth of seven children. Cora departed this life for her eternal home on June 4, 2019 at Riverview Regional Medical Center. She was proceeded in death by her father in 2017 and her mother in 2016. Cora graduated from Etowah High School and attended Cosmetology School at Gadsden State Community College. She was employed at Stamped Products for many years and later at Anniston Army Depot. Cora united at an early age with Antioch Methodist Church and later attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. No matter what obstacles she faced, she remained strong in her faith and never stopped trusting in the Lord to see her thru. Cora was a kind and loving person. She was well known for her ability to braid hair in unique styles. She was witty and always had a smile. She will be well remembered by the many friends who loved her dearly. Lovingly known as "Nanny", she will always remain in our hearts. Our memories of her and our love for Nanny will sustain us as we struggle to go forward without her in our presence. She was truly someone to know. Cora leaves to cherish her memories, three children; Shaquilla Garlington, Billy J. Brooks and Candi Brooks; eight grandchildren; Kyana, Shae, Faith, Kyontae, Shayla, Brooklyn, Billy Jr. and Malaysia. Four brothers; Eddie Jr., Larry, Allen, and Danny; two sisters; Edna and Julia. Three aunts; Lucille Marbury, Frankie Rogers and Stella Roger; one uncle, Clemon Rogers; great-uncle, James Davis and great-aunt, Leutisha Thomas, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
