Mr. Rudy L. Rigby Sr.

Celebration of Life service for Mr. Rudy L. Rigby, Sr. will be at 1p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Alabama City with Rev. Dr. John M. Woods, officiating. Burial will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. Mr. Rudy L. Rigby Sr., was born on June 20, 1958 to the late Eugene Rigby Sr., and Mrs. Eva M. Rigby. He received his formal education from the Gadsden School System where he earned his high school diploma at Emma Sansom High School. Upon Completion of High School, Rudy enlisted in the United States Military where he served in both the Army and The National Guard. After completing his tour of duty he returned to Gadsden, AL. where he enrolled in Gadsden State Community College and earned his Associates in Applied Science Degree. Rudy was a diligent, fun, loving and devoted father. He had a love for music and loved to cook. He had a love for sports and enjoyed watching basketball. Rudy was well known by his friends as " Root Man", and by his family he was well known for his candied yams. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Eugen Rigby Sr., and two brothers, Ramon Rigby Sr., and Reggie Rigby. He leaves to cherish 27 years of memories with Mrs. Paula Rigby; One son, Rudy(Mia) L. Rigby Jr., Two Daughters, Lori( Sedrick) Rigby of Montgomery, AL and Taquantis Etheridge of Homewood, AL.; Mother, Mrs. Eva M. Rigby of Gadsden, AL.; Brothers, James Rigby and Ryland Rigby both of Gadsden, AL. Eugene( Jalaine) Rigby Jr., of Douglasville, GA; Sisters, Deborah Rigby and Cherri Rigby of Gadsden, AL.; Grandchildren, one grand-daughter, Aniya Rigby. Grandson's, Jaden Rigby, Caden Rigby and Jalen Adams. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. The family will receive friends Friday, June 30, 2017 from 5-7p.m. at the funeral home.
