Mother Beatrice Pinkney, was born on December 23, 1927, in Lafayette, Alabama. She was the youngest of three siblings born to Annie Lee Gray and Artis Hardnett, her biological father.
She committed her life to Christ at an early age and united with Sardis Baptist Church. She moved with her family to Gadsden, Alabama, and joined Saint Paul Overcoming Church of God.
In her early adult life, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she meet and married John Pinkney. In 1977, she moved back to Gadsden to care for her ailing mother. She reunited with Saint Paul, working diligently in the church. She served on the mother board, in the choir, and in other auxiliaries until her health failed. She also took a job working with the Etowah Health Department during this time. She remained employed at the Health Department until she retired.
Aunt Bee received her Master’s calling on January 26, 2022. She now joins in eternal glory: her mother, Annie Lee Whitlow; stepfather, Ruth Whitlow; brothers, William Jeff Holloway and
Jessie Lee Gray; sister-in-law, Jessie Eva Simpson; nephews, William Jeff, Jr., and Jerry Lee Holloway; and nieces, Elizabeth Gray White and Deatrice Gray.
She is survived by: two nephews, Chester Gray (Bessie) of Murphy, Texas, and Tyrone Holloway of Detroit, Michigan; nine nieces, Juanita Simmons, Rossi Murray, both of Detroit, Michigan, Annie Lee Pierce, Geneva Whitney, Janice Ransaw, all of Gadsden, Alabama, Sarah Heath (Lee) of Weaver, Alabama, Regina Adams of Decatur, Alabama, JoAnn Higgins of Birmingham, Alabama, and Susan Higgins of Atlanta, Georgia.
Aunt Bee had numerous godchildren and other relatives and friends who loved and adored her. Special thanks to Greg and Alberta Hughley of Gadsden, Alabama, who were always there for her, through it ALL!!!
