Marie (White) Sumpter

Marie Sumpter was born the sixth child to Mrs. Fronie Hawkins  and Mr. Walter Byers on November 24, 1944.  She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Mr. Jolly Turner at MT. Zion Baptist Church in Alabama City, Alabama.

She Received her formal education in the State of New York public school System. Later in life Marie met and married the love of her life Mr. George Sumpter and to this union eight children were born, five girls and three boys. Marie was such a blessed woman, so much so that she never had to seek employment because her husband George provided for his family so that Marie could care for the children.

Marie affectionately, called by many “Ree” loved to cook, sit out on the porch and above all party and have a good time with family and friends.

She is proceeded in death by her Husband, Mr. George Sumpter; Her Parents, Mr. Walter Byers and Ms. Fronie Hawkins. Grandparents, Ms. Fannie and Mr. Jessie Patterson.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her loving children, Marie Louise(Kenny) Sumpter,  Tiffany Sumpter, Reggie (Cindy) Sumpter, Joseph Sumpter, George Sumpter Jr., Melinda Sumpter and Stephanie Sumpter, Felecia (Tony) Sumpter; Sisters and Brothers, Jimmy White, Grace Alexander, Adam (Verna) McKee, Nokie (Lisa) McKee, Vanessa (Mike) McKee, Hazekiah White; Grandchildren, Marqulin Sumpter, Tylan Sumpter, Za’liyah Sumpter, Calvin Sumpter, McKyaella Enoh, “Duck”, Jalivah Sumpter, Malia Sumpter, Cayden Sumpter, Kyrie Sumpter, Liari Sumpter, Kilyne Sumpter, Lex Sumpter, Deona Sumpter, Devin Sumpter, Erica Sumpter, Mr. and Mrs. Burns, Bobby Sumpter, Brandon Sumpter, Adrion Sumpter Alalah Sumpter, Harmony Sumpter, Shaquille Sumpter, Ka Leah Sumpter, Laquane Sumpter, Jamar Sumpter, Jovari Ruffin, Hykeim Kirby, Jay Kirby, Jahiem Kirby, Joequilla Sumpter, Joemyla Sumpter and she leaves a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
