Alice Knight Obituary

Alice, but as we all knew and called her, “Jett,” was born in Gadsden, Alabama, at Baptist Memorial Hospital to the late Ouster and Annie Mae Hunter on November 23, 1958, 65 years ago. She earned her formal education in her hometown of Gadsden, Alabama, from Booker T. Washington Elementary, Donahue Middle, Gadsden High, and Gadsden State Community College.

She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of her life at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church in East Gadsden under the pastorate of Dr. G. E. Cook. She remained faithful and dedicated in attendance until her health started to fail. She loved and enjoyed being and serving as an usher and assisting anywhere she could. Jett was a pretty good seamstress and showcased some of her best works at Health Tex, where she was employed for many, many years. Also, if you knew her, you knew she loved to dress up and look her best at all
times, even when she was just running to the store. She also loved and enjoyed cooking, flowering, and was the life of any party. She didn’t meet a stranger who didn’t become her friend. She was such a beautiful soul with a beautiful smile.

She loved her children and grandchildren and didn’t leave a stone unturned when it came to one of the them. She has two wonderful daughters, Tiffany Kimbrough and Kitisha Kimbrough of Gadsden, Alabama; six grandkids, Broderick Jackson of Huntsville, Alabama, Jyra Kimbrough, Jernecia Kimbrough, Chunsie Lowery, Tishaunie Jordan, and Le’Auna Hodge of Gadsden; two great-grandkids, Parker Jackson of Huntsville and Royal Kimbrough of Gadsden, Alabama; siblings, Edward Charles, John Henry, Annie Lee Wilson, Sarah Sims of Gadsden, Alabama, Ella Norman of Huntsville, Alabama, Sandra Hunter of Birmingham, Alabama, Katherine Ford of Gadsden, Alabama, and Ouster Hunter of Gadsden, Alabama; special friends, Shun Kid and
Billy Smith; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, and loved one who are left to cherish her memories here on earth.

Jett was called home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Riverview Regional Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama. Dear family who are awaiting her are her husbands, David Kimbrough and Robert Knight; her sweet mama, Annie Mae Marshall; fathers, Ouster Hunter and Arthur Marshall; sisters, Eunice Rutledge and Michelle Thomas; brothers, Arthur, Walter, and Amos Hunter; one niece, “Baby” Michelle Hunter; and two aunts, Lillie Marchell (Eddie) and Willie Pinky Lewis (Jack Floyd).
