Celebration of Life service for Mr. Adrian J. Cox, age 21, of Gadsden, AL. will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Abundant Life Church, Bishop Terry A. Jones, Pastor. Public visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, April 3,2020 at the church. The public is asked to please follow the instruction's of the funeral home staff upon arrival for the visitation to ensure social distancing and compliance with CDC guidelines. The celebration of life is closed to the public but will be live-streamed via Abundant Life Church Facebook page and Prestige Memorial Funeral Home Facebook page.
The Obituary
Mr. Adrian Jujuan Cox was born the second child of Courtney Cox on March 18, 1999. He received Christ at an early age, under the leadership of Bishop Terry A. Jones
at Abundant Life Church.
Adrian was a 2018 graduate of Gadsden City High School. Adrian served on the JROTC, FBLA, as basketball team manager, and as an assistant at Litchfeld Middle School
Football. He was a referee and score keeper at many games. Adrian loved to act and write plays, and he was in several plays. He assisted with the youth department at Abundant
Life and was active in many youth functions in school and at church. He received the Presidential Award from President Barack Obama, in 2012. Adrian attended Talladega College.
He was a member of the debate team. He worked for the Gadsden Parks and Recreation and was a substitute teacher in the local elementary and middle schools. He was a referee for
the AHSAA East Alabama Basketball Official Association. While home from college, Adrian devoted his weekends to carrying many youth to games and other activities. Adrian loved people and helped any and every one when he could.
Adrian was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin (Josephine) Smith, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. John (Thelma) Cox; uncles, Michael Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery (Linda) Smith. He left this earthly home on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories to: his loving and devoted mother, Ms. Courtney Cox; his brother, Dakawn Cox, his grandparents, Mr. Stanley (Janice) Cox, Sr.; aunts, Kimberly (Thad) Ratliff and Juwana Hardeman; uncles, Thoris (Tanyeka) Boley and Stanley Cox, Jr.; godfather, Erick Hubbard; special brothers, Jeremiah White and Jashawn Cammeron; great-great-uncle and aunt, Mrs. an Mrs. Julius (Fannie) Ellington; great-uncles, Melvin (Mary) Smith, David (Gloria) Smith, Donald (Clara) Smith, and Gerald Smith; great-aunts, Debra Smith, Rita Woody, and Jennifer (Michael) Turk; special godparents, Bishop Terry (Lady Charlotte) Jones, Michelle Vereen, Linda Bostick, Tiffany Driver, and Vicki Excford; special cousins, Josh (Josephine) Smith, Ron Allen, and Angel Jones; special brother, Dazun Lindsey; and a host of many other cousins and an abundance of other family and friends too numerous to list.
