Mr. Donald Miliner, affectionately known as “ Duck” and
“Black”, was the sixth child born to the union of Mr. George C.
Miliner and Mrs. Annie Lou Miliner, in Gadsden, AL, on January
22, 1957. He received Christ under the leadership of Pastor H.L.
Sprewell, at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. Donald received his formal education from the Gadsden Public School System, where he graduated from Emma Sansom High School class of 1975.
After graduating high school, “Duck’s” love for food took him to working at a local restaurant known as “Morrison”, later known as “Piccadilly”. It was there that he would spend the next 27 years, until he was no longer physically able.
In his spare time, he loved to clean, cook, and most notably, iron clothes. Later, Donald would soon come to discover that he was a diabetic, but he didn’t allow this diagnosis to keep him from living a meaningful and joyful life. Though he wasn’t supposed to have sweets, he would plead with his sister, “Teddy”, to either bake him a cake or bring him some candy to satisfy his craving for something sweet. During football season, he loved to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide play and defeat their opponents.
Donald loved the pastor and the members of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. He took delight in greeting members on Sunday mornings during the meet and greet portion of the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. George and Mrs.Annie Miliner; three brothers, Clarence Miliner, Antonio Miliner and Lashon Miliner; two sisters, Georgia A. Miliner and Gloria D. Smith.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: three sisters, Catherean(William Jr.) Ethridge, Adrian Stevens, and Jackie Edwards; two brothers, Wayne Miliner and George (Sharon) Miliner, Jr.; brother-in-law, Leon Smith; one aunt, Earline Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
