Mr. Charles Adair, Jr., was born the second child of the late Charles Adair, Sr., and Mrs. Dora Dark Adair on April 1, 1950. He received Christ at an early age at Mount Pilgrim Church of Ridgeville, Alabama.
Charles graduated from Etowah High School with honors in 1968. Charles then went to Gadsden State for two years and then transferred to Alabama A&M in 1970.
Charles joined the U.S. Army and served for three years and received many medals and awards as an Honorable E-5 while he served.
In 1977, Charles went back to Alabama A&M and got his B.S. degree. He then went to the University of Alabama, where he received his Master’s degree in 1980.
Charles began his first year of teaching at Alma Hinson Jr. High on February 24, 1980. He then left to go teach at Etowah High School, where he retired on June 1, 2005. During Charles’ 25 years as an educator, he was known for his excellence as an A.P. History teacher. He was also known for being the Mayor of Ridgeville, Alabama, for many years, and for his beautiful solo voice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Charles, Sr., and Dora Adair, and one sister, Rose Adair Wolf. He leaves to cherish his many memories: sisters, Ms. Lessie Adair and Estella (Louis) Glover; brothers, Larry Adair and Albert (Deborah) Adair; a special nephew who was like a brother, William Adair; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; many dear friends; and favorite niece-in-law, Anita Adair.
